As of 04/28/2022, the expected yield of treasury bills (T-bills) for 3 months is 4.969%! (Updated: it is over 5% ) Compared to other CDs, T-bill is more flexible (has shorter terms) and has almost the same APY. That's why I choose T-bills other than CDs.
There are two ways to purchase T-bills: a government website (https://www.treasurydirect.gov/) or a brokerage account. I was trying to register at the government website, but it kept asking to verify my identity, to do so I have to MAIL my documents to them, so I gave it up eventually.
Below, I will introduce how to use a Fidelity account to buy T-bills.
First, click "New & Research", then "Fixed income, Bonds, CDs".
Secondly, you can click New Release to find the most recent available T-bills.
The last, just select "Trade" to buy T-bills.
