Antelope Canyon

Antelope Canyon is at Page, Arizona. There is three different Antelope Canyons: Upper, Lower and X Antelope Canyon. Each of them is slightly different from others. We choose to go Upper antelope canyon this time and it proved that our decision was correct. Usually, the Upper Canyon is most popular canyon among other choices that the tickets for noon sold out fast.

The view in the Canyon was amazing. Because of the size (narrow at the top and wide at the bottom) of the Canyon, we could see the light beams shine through the canyon. Peter Lik sold his picture took in Antelope canyon "Phantom: for $ 6.5 millions which made the canyon more famous.

Also, we were lucky to visit the canyon during noon time frame which is the best light for photography.  I can see the layers of sandstone clearly.
We took a day tour bus from Las Vegas. It took around 4.5 hour to get to the canyon. The weather was bad that morning, it was raining and freezing that I was afraid that the canyon will be closed. When we finally arrived the canyon, it stopped raining so all of us were happy and then next moment, it started hailing…So, we stayed in the bus for 30 minutes to wait for the better weather. All canyons will be closed during the bad weather due to safety issue. All the canyons were formed by big wash which means if anyone is in the canyon during bad weather, they will be washed away too.

Antelope Canyon is operated by Navajo tribe so everyone needs to make reservation for the guided tour. Tour guide picked us up at the ticket office and drove us to the canyon, it was about 15 minutes each trip to Canyon and  a little bumpy.  Our tour guide showed us the best spot to takes pictures and introduced us the history of the canyon.

This rock looks like a fest.

Due to the bad weather, Navajo consular decided to close the lower canyon for the safety issue. Our tour company managed to get extra upper canyon tickets for those who booked the tickets to lower canyon. Therefore, I would recommend to go with tour company because they can help to get the more tickets even it said sold out and deal with unexpected situations.

The tour company we went with is National Park Express, but I booked through Klook which is $ 40 (with $20 double 11 promo event) per person lower than directly book with National Park Express.
